The World Islands, are a collection of man-made islands shaped into the continents of the world, located off the coast of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It will consist of 300 small private artificial islands divided into four categories - private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands.

Dubai, unlike much of the middle east does not have an oil centered economy. Only 6% of their GDP comes from oil. Finance and IT is now the largest industry.

They are actually making Dubai, the "new" vegas, the "new" silicon valley, the "new" new york ! They have the world's tallest bldg, the man made palm island, the world's 1st 7 star hotel - dubbed as the "OTT" hotel (Over The Top) when QE 1 retired, they bought that one too and made it a 5 star hotel too, This OIL RICH CITY !! go figured !
