Hhhmmm...someone is not very interested in American history I see! FYI..you stumbled onto historical evidence of a different era in the good ole USA, when this country was a very different country than the one you know today. Go do your homework please! These programs were taped 40 years ago. This music still has more soul than most crap that passes for music one hears today!

John is the greatest of all piedmont blues artists. The Swedish group PIEDMONT PROJECT has John Hurt as their number one inspiration. They were actually invited to perform at the Hurt Museum in Avalon. Check

I still own my 1963 Newport Blues Fest record album (owned since 1971, was/is my dearest favo) and Mississippi John performed this tune at that Festival in 1963. It's too bad it cut off early, great tune, what a song by this wonderful man. Whole album is wonderful. So I guess if you like the old "Delta Blues" like I do, look maybe for Brownie & Sonny, John Lee Hooker, John Hammond, Dave Van Ronk amongst others for some good blues also~ anyway, I'm guessing this video prob dates to 1963

"John is the greatest of all piedmont blues artists." "Piedmont blues" is a severe misnomer. "Piedmont" refers to part of the East Coast states, but among musicians as old as John, ragtime-style guitar playing was really popular all over the South, as ragtime in general was.
