I dont have a good answer for that lol cause it is beautiful down here. But i wanna c diffrent things. Just picture the way ur feeling, just visa-versa for me. Hilo is very isolated from population....thats the true Hawaii right there ^.^

Excuse me, but can't that be said of every square inch of the United States (and Australia, for that matter)? It all belonged to the natives at some point, and I don't think they gave it willingly. I'm sure what happened was a shame, but 1898 was a long time ago. Hawaii is a lovely place now, most people on the island want to be Americans (don't go all segregationist on me now), so I say the statute of limitations on that one has passed, even assuming that you are right about the illegality.

I have, several times. I have never caught a hint of anything less than the Aloha spirit. Also, and sadly, less than 20% of islanders are native Hawaiian. At any rate, it doesn't make a lot sense to talk about how the locals don't care for Americans when the locals are in fact Americans themselves.
But don't get me wrong for a minute: Hawaii has its own culture, and it is probably my favorite culture in the country. Native Hawaiian roots have to be preserved, the language taught, etc.

"simmering independence movement"....are you F*ckin serious?......ROTFLOL....oh, you foreign lefties are even crazier than our domestic ones....Aloha and Mahalo. :) Anyone from outside the US....please... there are a lot of ways to take pot shots at the US to work up your anti-American insecurities and fulfill your multi-polar fantasies...but conjuring up an "independence movement" which threatens Hawaii from Union with the US...it's a bit much.
