the purpose of an identity card is to protect society from thiefs, terrorists etc...not to control people. of course you can use it for that if you want (even if it's limited) but a lot of countries have it and it's for a good reason. and don't tell me that americans are more free.
and btw i'm french and i lost my id card years ago.i do everything with my passport and my drivers license :) hehe

So how do we get something done...if the opposing side speaks of politics but their politics is of force and blood shed of innocent people? They are allowed to kill and murder but if we do the same we are terrorist? Not anyone. At least not me. Many years ago, on the way to Mexico as an exchange student, my flight (JAL) was delayed and I missed my connection to Mexico at the LA airport. An immigration officer was immediately assigned to escort me till I caught another flight. I was told that I had to sleep in the same hotel room with the officer had I not caught a flight out. I am now married to a USA citizen and currently am a legal resident alien. I'm neither a thief nor a terrorist.

Sorry that was worded wrong. I meant to point out that it does not make sense to want every american to carry one of the id cards when there are 12 millions illegals in the country they don't seem to care about. I did not mean to imply everyone here illegally was a their of a terrorist.
